A default installation of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 or
Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 creates several Microsoft Internet Information
Services (IIS) virtual directories. These virtual directories add functionality
to some BizTalk Server tools that are used at design time. This article
includes recommendations about how to configure the correct access permissions
on these virtual directories.

The
http://ServerName/BizTalkServerDocs/ Web site
contains the BizTalk Server documentation files, and the
http://ServerName/BizTalkServerRepository/ Web site
contains the BizTalk Server WebDAV repository.
Users who have to
upload edited schemas to the BizTalk Server WebDAV repository must have write
permissions to the BizTalkServerRepository virtual directory. Microsoft
recommends that you configure the NTFS file system permissions for these
virtual directories to permit only those accounts that require access to the
BizTalk Server documentation, the BizTalk Server WebDAV repository, or
both.
BizTalk Server does not have to gain access to the BizTalkServerRepository virtual directory or to the BizTalkServerDocs virtual directory to process documents. An HTTP connection from the computer that is running BizTalk Server to these virtual directories is made only at design time.
