Microsoft Excel allows you to have the same workbook open in more than one window so that you can work on multiple sheets at the same time (on the
Window menu, click
New Window). You can also use this feature to view different areas of the same sheet simultaneously.
When you work with multiple windows that contain a copy of the same workbook, the title bar of each window displays the name of the workbook followed by a colon and a sequential number. For example, the first window of Book1.xls workbook is called Book1:1, the second one is called Book1:2, and so on. Each of these windows also has its own button on the taskbar.
You can close individual workbook windows by selecting the window and pressing CTRL+W.
If you want to view two worksheets simultaneously, follow these steps:
- Open a workbook in Microsoft Excel.
- On the Window menu, click New Window.
- On the Window menu, click Arrange, and then click OK.
