You can't subscribe to a SharePoint Online RSS feed and track it in the Feeds section of Internet Explorer

Problem

When you try to subscribe to a Really Simple Syndication (RSS)�feed from a Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint Online site and�track the feed in the Feeds section of Internet Explorer, you may experience one of the following symptoms:�
  • You�are prompted to open the feed by using Microsoft Outlook.
  • You receive the following error message in Internet Explorer:
    The webpage cannot be displayed.

    Most likely cause:
    Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don�t have installed.
Note In this scenario, the link that you click to subscribe to the feed begins with feeds:// and not https://. Additionally, the symptoms that are mentioned in this article may vary from those that you experience if you have an RSS reader installed on your system.�

Solution

To resolve this issue, take one of the following actions:�
  • If you're prompted to open the RSS feed in Outlook,�track the feed by using Outlook.
  • In Internet Explorer, create a favorite to the feed page where the subscribe link exists.
