Procedure

You might want to do this in scenarios in which you can add the domain to the Office 365 portal but you can't verify the domain. In this scenario, you must follow these steps:
  1. Add the domain to Office 365.
  2. Examine the MX record needed for domain verification. It will resemble ms74374055.msv1.invalid.
  3. Create an MX record on your name servers. This could be where your domain is registered. When you create the MX record, add ".outlook.com" to the end. It will resemble ms74374055.msv1.invalid.outlook.com.
  4. You may need to wait up to 72 hours.
  5. Verify the domain in Office 365.
