�Unable to display the folder� error occurs in Outlook 2010 in an Office 365 environment

Problem

When you try to view a folder in Microsoft Outlook 2010 in a Microsoft Office 365 environment, you may receive the following error message:
Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Outlook cannot access the specified folder location. �Microsoft Lync 2010� exited without properly closing your Outlook data file. �Microsoft Outlook� must be restarted. If this error message recurs, contact support for �Microsoft Lync 2010� for assistance.

Cause

This issue may occur if you use Microsoft Lync 2010, and Lync doesn't shut down correctly. Lync 2010 and Outlook 2010 share components and share memory blocks. If Lync does not shut down correctly, this error may occur if Outlook tries to use the shared components the next time that the computer starts.

Solution

To�fix this issue, exit Outlook,�exit Lync, start Outlook, and then start Lync.�
