How to Update Your Administrative Installation Point

Follow these steps to update your administrative installation point with the Office 2000 ODBC Driver Vulnerability Security Update:
  1. Point your Web browser to the following Web site:
  2. Click Download Now!. Click Save this program to disk and then click OK.
  3. Click Save.
  4. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
    Jetcopkg.exe /t:c:\test /c
    All of the files contained in the Jetcopkg.exe file are extracted to C:\Test.
  5. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
    msiexec /a <Admin Path>\Data1.msi /p c:\test\oqfe3821.msp SHORTFILENAMES=1
    where <Admin Path> is the path to your administrative installation point for Office 2000.

    The Microsoft Office 2000 Administrative Mode dialog box appears.

    NOTE: You must run this command from a computer that already has the Windows Installer installed.
  6. Type your CD key in the CD Key boxes, and then click Next.
  7. Click I accept the terms in the License Agreement and then click Next.
  8. Click Install Now.
At this point, your administrative installation point is updated. Any new installations that you run from this administrative installation point will include the security updates included in the ODBC Driver Vulnerability Security Update.

How to Update Your Workstations

Scenario 1: Updating Workstations That Already Installed Office from Your Administrative Installation Point

Follow these steps to install the update on the workstation and update the local Windows Installer package:
  1. Install the Office 2000 ODBC Driver Vulnerability Security Update on the workstation.

  2. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
    msiexec /i <Admin Path>\Data1.msi REINSTALL=ProductNonBootFiles REINSTALLMODE=vomus
    where <Admin Path> is the path to your administrative installation point for Office 2000.

    NOTE: The ProductNonBootFiles parameter must be typed exactly as it appears in the preceding step.
  3. Click OK to the message that Setup completed successfully.
  4. Click Yes if you are prompted to restart your computer.

Scenario 2: Updating Future Installations from Your Administrative Installation Point

You must install the Office 2000 ODBC Driver Vulnerability Security Update on each workstation when you roll out additional installations of Office from your administrative installation point.
