For a non-administrative user to run Office setup, an administrator must either advertise Office using the
/j switch, or apply the
AlwaysInstallElevated policy. After this is done, the non-administrative user can run Office setup, but they must use either the
/q or
/qb switch at the command prompt.
NOTE: If you run Setup with the
/j switch or you apply the
AlwaysInstallElevated policy, you cannot circumvent the issue with Internet Explorer mentioned above. You still have to log on as an administrator and install Internet Explorer 3.0, or later, before installing Office.
