Trust Bar disappears after you add a new worksheet in an Office Excel 2007 workbook

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You open an Microsoft Office Excel 2007 worksheet.
  • You notice a Trust Bar that contains an Enable Content button.
  • You do not click the button. Then, you add a new sheet to the workbook.
In this scenario, you notice that the trust bar disappears and the macros are disabled. Additionally, you notice that you can only enable the macros if you close and then open the Office Excel 2007 worksheet.

Cause

This issue occurs because an event that requires to load macros in the workbook cause the macros to be automatically disabled. Adding a new worksheet to the workbook is one of the events. Additionally, the trust bar disappears by design.

Workaround

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:
  • Click Enable Content button in the Trust Bar to enable macros before you add new worksheet.
  • Put the Excel worksheet into a trusted location.
  • Save the document, then close and reopen the Office Excel 2007 worksheet.
