Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 may crash after you apply security update 978207 (MS10-002) or security update 980182 (MS10-018)

Symptoms

You apply security update 978207 (MS10-002) or security update 980182 (MS10-018) on a computer that has Windows Internet Explorer 7 or Windows Internet Explorer 8 installed. When you try to browse a webpage that contains HTML Components (.htc files), Internet Explorer may crash. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Internet Explorer has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
When this issue occurs, an event that resembles the following is logged in the Application log. This error indicates that the crash occurs in the Mshtml.dll module.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description: Faulting application iexplore.exe, version <version number>, faulting module mshtml.dll, version <version number>, fault address <address>.

To resolve this problem, install the most recent cumulative security update for Windows Internet Explorer. Workaround

To work around this issue, use the onbeforeunload event to dynamically detach the .htc files before you browse to another webpage.
