Introduction

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • You change the key columns of a dimension from multiple to unique in an Analysis Services database cube. When you expand the hierarchy level gradually in the Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbooks that use the dimension, the workbooks are corrupted.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a PivotTable based on an OLAP data source.
    • After changes are made to the cube, you open the book and refresh the PivotTable.
    • You save and close the book.
    • The next time that you open the book, you receive "Unreadable Content" errors, and after recovery the PivotTable is no longer functioning.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have an embedded Office Excel worksheet object in another application on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows 7. The Office Excel worksheet object looks correct at this point.
    • You open and then edit the Excel worksheet object in Office Excel 2007.
    • You save the Office Excel worksheet object.
    • You close the Office Excel worksheet object and back to the host application.
In this scenario, the bottom or the side of the Office Excel Worksheet object is clipped.

  • You have a chart that contains manually positioned data labels for series that are not displayed in Office Excel 2007. When you try to save the file in the .xls format, Office Excel 2007 crashes.

  • You have a computer that has 2007 Microsoft Office system Service Pack 1 installed. You use the INDEX function as part of an array formula in an Office Excel 2007 worksheet. When the formula is recalculated, Office Excel 2007 crashes. This problem occurs because the first argument in the INDEX function is not recalculated.
  • You cannot bypass the automatically running macro in an Office Excel 2007 workbook by keeping the SHIFT key pressed. This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
    • The workbook is in a UNC path or in a network drive.
    • The workbook is opened from either the file open dialog box or from the recent file list.
    • The workbook contains an Auto_Open procedure in a module, or a Workbook_Open sub procedure in the workbook object.
  • You use the Picture (Windows Metafile) feature or the Picture (Enhanced Metafile) feature to paste some cells from Office Excel 2007 to Office Word 2007. In this situation, the source formatting is retained in the destination. The source formatting includes the following:
    • Gridlines
    • Comment indicators
    • Auto-filter buttons
    • Text color
    • Cell color
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have an Office Excel 2007 workbook that contains a camera object or a picture link.
    • You insert a text box to the workbook.
    • You type characters into the text box.
In this scenario, a delay occurs in displaying the typed characters.

  • In Office Excel 2007, you open a workbook that was created in Office Excel 2003 or an earlier version. When you copy and then paste a chart from the workbook to an Office Word document, the pasted chart may be displayed incorrectly. This problem is more likely to occur when the chart size is small.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have a column in an Office Excel 2007 worksheet that contains spaces and blank cells.
    • You enable filtering on the column.
    • You select more than two criteria. One of the criteria is (Blanks).
In this scenario, the cells that contain spaces are not displayed as expected.

  • When you programmatically hide or unhide rows in an Office Excel 2007 workbook, the performance decreases. This problem occurs after you apply 2007 Microsoft Office system Service Pack 2.

  • You have an Office Excel 2007 worksheet that contains a data table that references a formula in the same worksheet. The worksheet is copied to a new worksheet when Office Excel 2007 is in manual calculation mode. In the new worksheet, the source data of the formula that the data table depends on is changed. If you press F9 or SHIFT+F9, the data table is not calculated as expected.

  • You have an Office Excel 2007 workbook that contains two or more formulas that indirectly depend on one other. For example, the formulas contain the VLOOKUP function and are included in the area that is referenced in the same VLOOKUP function. When the workbook is calculated, Office Excel 2007 may stop responding. This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:
    • The Enable multi-threaded calculation check box is not selected in Office Excel 2007.
    • The Range.Calculate method is used on the area that is referenced in the formulas.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have an .xlsx file or an .xlsb file that contains an external link to a document.
    • You click to clear the Save external link values check box.
    • You save the file.
In this scenario, the content of the external document is stored in the file unexpectedly.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have a workbook that contains a pie chart in Office Excel 2007.
    • The Data Labels feature of the chart is set to Outside End.
    • You edit a data label for the chart.
    • You save the workbook in the Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls) format, and then you close the workbook.
    • You reopen the workbook.
In this scenario, the data label that you edited is displayed inside the chart.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You paste a chart from an Office Excel 2007 workbook to a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document as a link. The chart in Office Excel 2007 is off-screen.
    • You right-click the object in Office Word 2007, point to Linked Worksheet Object, and then click Open Link to open the object in Excel 2007.
    • You right-click the object in Office Word 2007, and then click Update Link.
In this scenario, the chart is not displayed in Office Word 2007.

  • You cannot share an Office Excel 2007 workbook after you apply security update 978382.
