No event is added to the System log or to an operational channel when a print job is canceled or deleted

Symptoms

No event is added to the System log or to an operational channel when you delete or cancel a print job on a computer that is running one of the following operating systems:
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 R2

Therefore, you do not know whether the print job is deleted or canceled when you monitor the status of a queued print job by using the System log or the operational channel.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you have to install this hotfix on the computer. Additionally, you have to enable the writing of the spooler information events to the System log file. For more information about how to enable or disable the logging of printing events, see the "More information" section.

Note
  • When you delete or cancel a print job on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, the event ID 13 is logged in the System log. For more information about the event ID 13 for a print job status, see the "More information" section.
  • When you delete or cancel a print job on the computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the event ID 310 is logged in an operational channel . For more information about the event ID 310 for a print job status, see the "More information" section.
