You receive an error message and Event ID: 1008 is logged when you move an Exchange Server 2007 mailbox

Symptoms

You try to move a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 mailbox which includes a managed folder. In this situation, you receive the following error message:

Error was found for <user name> (<address>) because: Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error:

MAPI or an unspecified service provider.

ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000, error code: -1056749164

Additionally, you find the following event in the Application logs:

Event Source: Exchange Migration

Event Category: Move Mailbox

Event ID: 1008

Description:

The move-mailbox task for mailbox '<name>' failed.

Error: Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error:

MAPI or an unspecified service provider.

Cause

This problem occurs because Exchange Server 2007 checks the properties of the related managed folder during the mailbox move operation. If a certain property is missing, the operation fails with the error messages that are mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
