Error message when a client that uses the WebDAV protocol to connect to an Exchange Server 2007 server: "Error 1000"

Symptoms


You have a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and that has the Client Access Server (CAS) role installed. When a client that is using Web Distributed and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol connects to this server, the W3WP.exe process on the server may crash intermittently. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:
