Consider the following scenario:
- In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment, you create a transport rule.
- You set the recipient addresses in Actions in the transport rule.
- One or more of the recipient addresses are disabled or removed.
Note The recipient addresses are only included in the following four transport rule actions:- add a recipient in the To field addresses.
- copy the message to addresses.
- Blind carbon copy (Bcc) the message to addresses.
- redirect the message to addresses.
In this scenario, you can no longer edit the transport rule. If you try to edit the transport rule by using Exchange Management Console, you find the conditions and actions of the transport rule are empty. Additionally, if you try to update the transport rule, you receive the following error:
You cannot set conditions, actions, or exceptions on a manually edited rule.
Note You can also run the
Get-TransportRule command in Exchange Management Shell to check the transport rule status. This command also shows that the conditions and actions of the transport rule are empty.
