Internet Explorer crashes when you perform a drag-and-drop operation in a Web page in Internet Explorer 7 or in Internet Explorer 8

You view a Web page in Windows Internet Explorer 7 or in Windows Internet Explorer 8. This Web page supports drag-and-drop operations. When you try to drop an object in the Web page, Internet Explorer crashes. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

This issue occurs during a drag-and-drop operation because of an access violation that occurs in the Anchor element.
