Symptom



After upgrading a Windows Vista SP1 or a Windows Server 2008 SP1 to SP2, event 1001 is logged in the System event log on every boot:

Cause

This error is logged if the system that is upgraded has several language packs installed and the SP2 upgrade package does not contain the updates for all of the languages installed.

This error can be safely ignored.

You can check which languages are installed.
  1. Click�Clock, Language and Region�in Control Panel, click Region and Languages, and then�click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
  2. Click Install/uninstall languages.
  3. Click�Uninstall display languages.


In the list, you can see the languages currently installed on your OS.
