You cannot use 2007 Office applications to open or edit content in a Web application that uses forms-based authentication

Symptoms

You create a Web application that hosts a SharePoint site that uses forms-based authentication. You cannot use 2007 Microsoft Office applications to open or edit content that is hosted in the Web application.

For example, if the application is configured to use an Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) HTTP module class during forms-based authentication, you cannot fully use all the client integration features in SharePoint.

Resolution

To resolve this problem in Windows Vista, install Windows Vista Service Pack 2, which is released on July 01, 2009. Also, apply the 2007 Office system hotfix package that is dated April 30, 2009.
