Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You use 2007 Microsoft Office applications on a Microsoft Terminal Services (MSTSC) client. The MSTSC client is running in Monitor Spanning mode at a screen resolution of 2560 � 1024 pixels or higher. When you insert a Microsoft Graph object into a 2007 Office application in this scenario, the text in the Graph object is squeezed together.

To resolve this problem, apply the Excel 2007 hotfix package that is dated April 30, 2009, and then set a value for the EMFForcePrintOw registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Apply the Excel 2007 hotfix package that is date April 30, 2009.

  2. Set a value for the EMFForcePrintOw registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Start Registry Editor.
      • In Windows Vista, click Start
        , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

        If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.
      • In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Graph\Options
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type EMFForcePrintOw, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click EMFForcePrintOw, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
