Cause

This problem occurs if an Exchange Server 2003 administrator puts duplicate smarthost IP addresses on the properties of a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) connector. Therefore, all mail flow of Exchange 2007 servers is broken until the duplicate IP address is removed.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 8 for Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1.

For more information about Update Rollup 8 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, see the following Exchange Help topic: For more information about how to obtain the latest Exchange service pack or update rollup, see the following Exchange Help topic:After you apply the fix, Exchange 2007 does not add duplicate IP addresses to the list for routing calculation.
