Symptoms

When you use Internet Explorer 7.0 or a later version of Internet Explorer to open a SharePoint site on a Windows Essential Business Server (EBS), Internet Explorer prompts you to enter your logon ID and password, even when you have permissions for the site.

Cause

This problem occurs because Internet Explorer Enhanced Security is enabled on the EBS computer.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Options, click Security, and then click Local Intranet.
  3. Add the URL of the SharePoint internal site to the local intranet site list.
