Edge Attachment Filtering does not honor the ExceptionConnectors value in Exchange Server 2007

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You use the Set-AttachmentFilterListConfig cmdlet to modify the configuration of the Attachment Filter agent on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with the Edge Transport server role installed. Then, you use the ExceptionConnectors parameter to set connector exceptions. When you use this parameter, you should exclude certain parameters from attachment filtering. For example, attachment filters are not applied to e-mail messages that are received through these connectors. To apply attachment filters, you must use the connector GUID to specify the ExceptionConnectors value. However, when you use the ExceptionConnectors parameter, attachments will still be scanned even when a message passes through a connector specified in the "ExceptionConnectors". This behavior is not expected.

Note You can run the following command in Exchange Management Shell to modify the configuration of the Attachment Filter agent:
Set-AttachmentFilterListConfig -Action Reject -ExceptionConnectors <GUID>
