Symptoms

When you run Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) backup against a Windows Server 2008-based Exchange 2007 Cluster Continuous Replication (CCR) or Standby Continuous Replication (SCR) environment, the replication is suspended as expected. However, when the replication is resumed after the VSS backup, event 522 is logged on the passive node of CCR or the target node of SCR:

Log Name: Application
Source: ESE
Event ID: 522
Task Category: General

Description:
Microsoft.Exchange.Cluster.ReplayService (xxxx) Log Verifier exx <sequence>: An attempt to open the device name "<share location>" containing "<share location>" failed with system error 5 (0x00000005): "Access is denied. ". The operation will fail with error -1032 (0xfffffbf8).

This event is logged when the replication is resumed on a suspended Storage Group. This event is harmless and does not indicate a problem with the replication.
