Symptoms

After you enable journal rule or deploy an antivirus application on Exchange Server 2007, the Microsoft Exchange Transport service crashes continuously. Therefore, the message flow stops. Additionally, the following errors are logged in the Application log:

Cause

When Exchange Server 2007 processes the filename of the attachments of certain digitally signed messages, an error causes a stack overflow.

To resolve this problem, install Update Rollup 6 for Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1.
