A VSS backup application causes the Information Store service to crash repeatedly on an Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1-based server

Symptoms

You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a server. When you back up the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) by using third-party applications, such as EMC Networker 5.0, the Information Store service (store.exe) process crashes repeatedly. Additionally, the following Event IDs are logged:
