View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In a standby continuous replication (SCR) environment in Exchange Server 2007, you notice that the log files are not copied to the target server. Additionally, you may receive the following error message when you run the Enable-StorageGroupCopy command:
Standby continuous replication is not supported between computers in different Active Directory domains. The target node is in domain <target domain name>, which is different from the source domain of <source domain name>

Note You can run the following command to enable SCR on the source server:
Enable-StorageGroupCopy -Identity <Storage Group Name> -StandbyMachine <target server name>

Cause

This problem occurs if the Exchange Server 2007 servers are in a disjoint namespace scenario. A disjoint namespace scenario occurs when the DNS suffix of the source Exchange server does not match the DNS suffix of the target Exchange server in an SCR environment.
