Symptoms

In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you change the format of a cell in a worksheet. However, OLE containers that contain a linked Excel 2007 worksheet object are not updated.

For example, this problem may occur after you embed a linked Excel 2007 worksheet object in a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install hotfix 954572.

To enable this hotfix, follow these steps:
  1. Exit Excel 2007.
  2. Start Registry Editor.
    • In Windows Vista, click Start
      , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

      If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    • In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then right-click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options
  4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  5. Type FixLinkedObjectFormatUpdates, and then press ENTER.
  6. Right-click FixLinkedObjectFormatUpdates, and then click Modify.
  7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  8. On the File menu, click Exit to exit Registry Editor.
Note To enable the hotfix, set the value to 1. To disable this hotfix, set the value to 0. The default value is 0.
