MIB interface information that is collected by the IP Helper API is blank or incomplete on a computer that is running a non-English version of Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista

Symptoms

You have a computer that is running a non-English version of Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista. A Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) application uses the IP Helper API to collect Management Information Base (MIB) interface information. However, the information is not displayed correctly. Instead, the information is blank or incomplete.

Cause

This issue occurs because the IP Helper API module (IpHlpAPI.dll) cannot copy MIB information when multibyte words are present in the source information.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
