In Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or in Windows Server 2008, Secure Digital Input Output device drivers reload and may behave incorrectly after you resume the computer from hibernation or from sleep

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or Windows Server 2008.
  • A Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) device is connected to the computer.
  • You put the computer into sleep (S3) mode or into hibernation (S4) mode, and then later you resume the computer.
In this scenario, the driver for the SDIO device reloads when the computer resumes. You may experience different symptoms, depending on the kind of SDIO device that is connected. For example, custom settings for the SDIO device may be lost, and the device may revert to its default settings. Or, if the SDIO device is a networking device, you may notice a delay in network access after you resume the computer.

Cause

The Sdbus.sys driver makes an incorrect comparison when it scans for device changes that occur during hibernation or sleep.
