Problem description

When you use the Mstsc.exe command together with the /span switch to extend a desktop onto other monitors, the caption text of the ActiveX components in Microsoft Office Excel 2007 is distorted.

Steps to resolve this problem

To fix this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Apply hotfix 952290. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    952290� Description of the Excel 2007 hotfix package: May 5, 2008
  2. Enable the hotfix.

    To have us enable the hotfix for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. To enable the hotfix yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

    Fix it for me

    To enable the hotfix automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Click Run in the File Download dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

    Set the RDPUsePrinterMF registry entry. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type RDPUsePrinterMF, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click RDPUsePrinterMF, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
