When you download a file in Internet Explorer 7, the space character in the file name is changed to a underscore

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • In Internet Explorer 7, you type a URL or click a link to download a file from a Web server.
  • The file name contains a space character.
However, when the File Download dialog box appears, the space character is replaced with an underscore in the Name field.

For example, you type http://URL/My file.txt in the address bar of Internet Explorer 7 to download a file that is named "My file.txt." However, when the File Download dialog box appears, the file name has changed to "My_file.txt."
