Log file drives on the SCR target may eventually fill up and cause replication failure in Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) in a standby continuous replication (SCR) environment. You set the value of the TruncationLagTime parameter to be larger than the value of the ReplayLagTime parameter. However, the database log files are not truncated on the SCR target server, even if the TruncationLagTime parameter is surpassed. Therefore, the log file drives on the SCR target may eventually fill up and cause replication failure.

This problem occurs if the administrator does not manually remove the truncated log files on the SCR target server or if the administrator does not reseed the SCR target copy.

Note You can find the log files that were truncated on the source server in event ID 916, as follows:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: ESE BACKUP
Event Category: General
Event ID: 916
Description: Information Store (xxx) Deleting log files <drive>:\..\E0xxxxxxxxx.log to <drive>:\..\E0xxxxxxxxx.log.
