The Autodiscover service for ActiveSync in an Exchange 2007 environment does not work for users in sites that do not have the ExternalURL property set

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment, the Autodiscover service for ActiveSync does not work for users in sites that do not have the ExternalURL property set. If a site does not face the Internet, the ExternalURL property is not set. Therefore, the Autodiscover service for ActiveSync works only within the site. Users who are in a site that does not face the Internet cannot be discovered. Additionally, mobile device users are requested to enter the server name manually.
