Event ID 7034 may be logged in the Application log in Exchange Server 2007 when an MAPI application tries to access a mailbox in a certain way

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You delete a user account and the related mailbox on a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007-based server.
  • You re-create a user account on a domain controller.
  • You restore the user mailbox from a backup by using Recovery Storage Group (RSG).
  • The backup is taken before the user account and the related mailbox are deleted.
In this scenario, when a MAPI application tries to access the mailbox in a certain way, the Information Store service on the server may close unexpectedly. Additionally, the following error is logged in the Application log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7034
Description: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this <number> time(s).

Resolution

To resolve this problem, download Update Rollup 4 for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1. Then, install the update on the Exchange server.
