Symptoms

You start Microsoft Office Excel 2007 on a computer that is running Windows Vista. When you do this, you see only the status bar at the top of the Excel window instead of the title bar. Additionally, the rest of the window is blank.

Note This problem occurs occasionally. When this problem occurs, Excel 2007 never loads a new blank file or the file that you tried to open.

Cause

This problem occurs because a security feature in Windows Vista loads applications into random memory locations. Whether this problem occurs depends on how the memory is randomly loaded.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, apply the 2007 Microsoft Office suites Service Pack 1.
