Error message when you try to install Exchange Server 2007: "[ERROR] Access to the path '<Drive_Letter>:\Setup\ServerRoles\Common\64' is denied"

Symptoms

When you try to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, you may receive the following error message:
[ERROR] Access to the path 'Drive_Letter:\Setup\ServerRoles\Common\64' is denied.
However, when you view the contents of the Exchange Server 2007 installation DVD, you do not find a folder that is named 64 in the following path:
\Setup\ServerRoles\Common

Cause

This issue may occur when you try to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 from one of the following sources:
  • From a DVD drive that has high disk latency.
  • Over a local area network (LAN) that has low bandwidth.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must first copy the whole contents of the installation DVD to a folder on the local drive. Then, you must start Setup from the folder on the local drive.
