You cannot run the Move-StorageGroupPath cmdlet after you install Exchange Server 2007 on a computer that does not belong to a CCR cluster

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 on a computer that does not belong to a cluster continuous replication (CCR) cluster. The server name attribute in the Active Directory directory service is displayed in lowercase letters. In this scenario, you cannot run the Move-StorageGroupPath cmdlet. Also, you receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Move-StorageGroupPath : This operation cannot be performed on a remote server or a clustered mailbox server in a cluster continuous replication environment. Please use the -ConfigurationOnly option and then manually move the files.

Note Typically, after you install Exchange Server 2007 on a computer that does not belong to a CCR cluster, the server name attribute in Active Directory is displayed in uppercase letters. For example, the server name attribute is displayed as CN=SERVER NAME.

Workaround

To work around this problem, use the Move-StorageGroupPath cmdlet together with the -ConfigurationOnly option. Then, manually move the files and the logs.
