After you recover the clustered mailbox server in an Exchange Server 2007 single-copy cluster configuration, the expected registry entries are not created

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

You recover the clustered mailbox server in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 single-copy cluster (SCC) configuration. You perform the recovery by using the Setup.com command together with the /recoverCMS switch. However, after the recovery, the expected entries are not created under the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\<servername>\Private-<GUID>
This registry subkey includes the following entries:
  • Background Cleanup
  • Background Search
  • General Event Log
  • NonMAPI Named Props Quota
  • Track Duplicates
  • Transport Event Log

Cause

The Private-<GUID> registry key is created the first time that the information store is mounted. The entries under this registry key are replicated only within the same cluster.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, export the Private-<GUID> registry key from the original server. Then, import the registry key to the recovered server after the information store is mounted.

Status

This behavior is by design.
