FIX: Error message in Internet Information Services 6.0 when you use the Active Directory Service Interfaces to enumerate the metabase properties of a virtual directory: "Error 0x80005008"

Symptoms

In Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0, you use the Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) to enumerate the metabase properties of a virtual directory. If the IPSecurity property in the virtual directory metabase has binary data, you may receive the following error message:
Error: 0x80005008
A Windows Server 2003-based computer that is running Microsoft Exchange Server may also encounter this problem when Internet Protocol security (Ipsec) is set on the [Client Access Server] role.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a problem in the CreatePropEntry function of the Active Directory Service Interfaces provider (Adsiis.dll).

Resolution

To resolve this problem, apply this hotfix to all computers that are running Exchange Server when you log on as a member of the Administrators group.

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Prerequisites

You must have Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed on the computer.

Note If you apply this hotfix on Windows Server 2003 SP1, you must apply this hotfix again after you install Windows Server 2003 SP2.

Restart requirement

If the IIS service is stopped when you apply this hotfix, you do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. If the IIS service is running when you apply this hotfix, you must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.
