Symptoms

When multiple tabs are open in Internet Explorer 7, and you close a tab that contains a non-HTML file, Internet Explorer may exit unexpectedly.

This problem occurs when the Yahoo! toolbar is installed, and the version of the toolbar is between 6.0.0.0 and 6.3.4.0.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a timing issue.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install the following security updates:
  • MS07-016: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer
  • MS07-027: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer
To install these updates, visit the following Microsoft Web site: Note If you are running Windows Vista, you only have to install the update that is described in security bulletin MS07-027.
