Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You have a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 or Excel 2010 worksheet that contains a text box. Additionally, the text box is formatted to use columns. When you open the Excel 2007 or 2010 workbook on a computer that is running Microsoft Office Excel 2003 together with the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007/2010 File Formats, the file is converted to the Excel 2003 format as expected. However, the column formatting is lost. Additionally, the Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007/2010 File Formats does not notify you that the text box column formatting will be lost during the file conversion operation.
