Word 2007 stops responding when you open a document that contains an Excel 2007 workbook

Symptoms

When you open a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document that contains a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbook, Word 2007 stops responding. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You are using Word 2007 and Excel 2007 on a Windows Vista-based computer.
  • The Word 2007 workbook contains a macro.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Microsoft Office Excel Security Notice dialog box opens behind the Word 2007 document.

Workaround

To work around this problem, use the ALT+TAB keyboard shortcut to restore the Microsoft Office Excel Security Notice dialog box. Then, click Enable Macros or click Disable Macros to continue to use Word 2007.
