Problem description

When you try to access a Web site from a Windows Vista Enterprise-based computer, the Web site sends data very slowly or drops the data completely. This article helps you work around this problem.

Workaround

To have us work around this problem for you, go to the “Fix it for me” section. If you would rather work around this problem yourself, go to the “Let me fix it myself” section.

Fix it for me

To enable the hotfix automatically, click the Fix this problem link. Then, click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in this wizard.





Note this wizard may be in English only; however, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.



Note If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD, and then you can run it on the computer that has the problem.

Now go to the "Did this fix the problem?" section.

Let me fix it myself

To work around this issue, change the Windows Scaling factor to 2. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Accessories.
  2. Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
  3. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted
Now go to the "Did this fix the problem?" section.

Cause

By default, Windows Vista Enterprise fully supports RFC 1323 and supports a window scaling factor of 8. This issue occurs when a Web site does not fully support RFC 1323 or when a Web site does not support the default scaling factor.
