Changes to an Excel 2007 workbook may not be displayed when you resave the workbook to a SharePoint Server 2007 document library and then view the workbook in Excel Web Access

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario. You create a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbook, and then save the workbook to a document library in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. You view the workbook in Excel Web Access. In Excel 2007, you change the original workbook, and then save the updated workbook to the document library. In this scenario, when you view the workbook in Excel Web Access in the same Web browser instance that you previously used, the changes to the workbook are not displayed.

Cause

This behavior occurs because SharePoint Server 2007 uses the Web browser session from the first version of the workbook to open the workbook in Excel Web Access.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, use any of the following methods:
  • In the Excel Web Access window, click Update, click Reload Workbook, and then click OK.
  • Close the Web browser window, and then open a new Web browser window.
  • Wait until the existing session has timed out.
