Cause

This problem may occur if a corrupted Microsoft Office Excel 2007 stock chart is inserted into the Word 2007 document. The corruption may have resulted if the stock chart has too many columns.

Excel 2007 stock charts can have only 3 or 4 columns, depending on the subtype of stock chart that is used. If you add extra columns to a stock chart that is in a Word 2007 document and then save the document, the stock chart will become corrupted. When this occurs, the Word 2007 document will also become corrupted. In this case, the Word 2007 document cannot be recovered.
