Using Secedit.exe to force Group Policy to be applied again
- In the Local Security Settings MMC snap-in, locate and then double-click the Back up files and directories policy.
- Verify that the Effective Policy Setting check box is selected for the following groups:
- Administrators
- Backup Operators
Note By default, this check box is selected. Also, this is an inherited setting. Therefore, the Effective Policy Setting check box is unavailable.
If this check box is not selected for one or both of these groups, you must troubleshoot Group Policy settings to determine which Group Policy is overriding the local security policy.
You can use the Gpresult tool or the Gptool tool to help troubleshoot Group Policy in Microsoft Windows 2000. These tools are included in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit.
