Symptoms

The Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Setup program unexpectedly exits when you run either of the following commands to prepare Active Directory for the installation of Exchange 2007:
Setup /prepareschema
Setup /prepareAD
The Setup program exits during or after the Copying Setup Files part of the Setup operation.

Cause

This problem may occur if the account that you are using has not been assigned the appropriate rights to run the Exchange 2007 Setup program.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, use an account that has sufficient rights to prepare Active Directory for the installation of Exchange 2007. To determine the rights that are required to prepare Active Directory, see the "Deployment" section of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Help. Specifically, see the "How to Prepare Active Directory and Domains" topic in this section.
