When you use the Paste Special menu command in a 2007 Office program to paste a metafile object, the pasted object may be fuzzy. This behavior occurs when you paste a Microsoft Windows metafile object or an Enhanced metafile object.

Workaround

To work around this behavior, use the Paste menu command instead of the Paste Special menu command. Or, click Picture (PNG) instead of Picture (Windows Metafile) or Picture (Enhanced Metafile) in the Paste Special dialog box.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Start Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.
  2. On the Insert tab, click an AutoShape in the Shapes group.
  3. Drag on the slide to draw the AutoShape.
  4. Right-click the AutoShape, and then click Copy.
  5. On the Home tab, click the arrow under Paste in the Clipboard group.
  6. Click Paste Special.
  7. Click Picture (Windows Metafile) or Picture (Enhanced Metafile), and then click OK.
