More information

When you install the World Wide Web Publishing Service service in IIS 6.0 on a 64-bit version of Windows Server 2003, the Remote Administration (HTML) tool does not appear in the list of available subcomponents.

You can use the following options to remotely manage the server.

IIS Manager

You can use IIS Manager on a local server to connect to and to administer a remote intranet server that is running IIS 6.0, IIS 5.1, or IIS 5.0.

Note Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0 and IIS 3.0 are not supported.

Terminal Services

You can use Terminal Services on a local computer to connect to and to administer a remote intranet server that is running IIS. The remote intranet server must have IIS Manager installed. You do not have to install IIS Manager on the local computer. After you have connected to the remote intranet server that is running IIS, you use IIS Manager on the remote intranet server as if you were locally logged on to the server.
