Symptoms

When you export a list to Microsoft Excel 2002 from a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site, some exported fields display a number sign (#) delimiter.

For example, you may experience the following symptoms when this problem occurs:
  • The Assigned To field appears as "1;#User Name" in Excel 2002 after you export a list. Excel 2002 does not remove the ID. Additionally, a delimiter is added between the ID and the name.
  • If the exported list contains a calculated field, such as "=Title," the value of the calculated field appears as "string,#value."
