Introduction

This article describes the Excel 2002 issues that are fixed in the Excel 2002 post-Service Pack 3 hotfix package that is dated September 6, 2005.

Issues that the hotfix package fixes

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package:
  • 905208 Part of a worksheet is missing when you run a VBA macro that uses the ScreenUpdating property to unhide a worksheet after you close the Document Recovery task pane in Excel 2002
This hotfix package also fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • You open a worksheet in Excel 2002 by using a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro in Microsoft Word. If the VBA macro uses the GetObject() function to open the worksheet, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
    • When you scroll down and then up in the worksheet, incorrect data appears.
    • The worksheet does not open, and Excel may unexpectedly quit (crash). Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
